7 Luxury Touring, Camping and Glamping Sites In Devon

Devon is a county of rugged landscapes, beautiful beaches and pretty villages. It has not one but two coastlines and boasts a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and national parks. Towns and cities boast critically acclaimed eateries, historic sites and culture aplenty – consider visiting Plymouth or Exeter. Coastal towns such as Salcombe boast astonishing views and opportunities for water sports (kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding).

There is much to see in this vast county and we have 7 luxury holiday parks in Devon, all 5 star graded and family owned, to introduce you to. So, whether you enjoy touring, camping or glamping, we have something to suit your accommodation preference in the stunning South West.

1. Woodlands Grove Caravan and Camping Park

The award winning Woodlands Grove is designed in terraces, with glorious views across the surrounding landscape. All-weather pitches and grass pitches are available with immaculate facilities for your use. Touring caravans, motorhomes, tents and trailer tents are all welcome.

Woodlands Grove is a 5 star AA Gold awarded Devon campsite, near Dartmouth and close to the beautiful unspoilt beaches of South Devon. An on site shop and cafe mean you don’t need to travel far for the essentials. A pizza takeaway is open in the evenings and kiosks serving ice creams and drinks are open during the summer season.

A perk of a stay at Woodlands Grove is free entry (when you stay 2 nights or more) to the 90 acre Woodlands Family Theme Park. This is perfect, not only for families, but for anyone who likes an activity based holiday, even at a slower pace. There are thrilling rides, attractions and mini golf, but you can also watch falconry displays and see many animals at the zoo farm.

View more about Woodlands Grove here and consider booking for your 2024 family holiday.

2. Oakdown Touring & Holiday Home Park

Situated in Sidmouth, Oakdown is multi award winning touring and camping park, having won the AA Platinum Award and the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation. Oakdown is a previous winner of South West Holiday Park Of The Year and a Visit Devon Gold winner.

Set in 20 acres, this holiday park is landscaped into groves for privacy and floral displays dot the site, with the team keen to ensure it looks beautiful all season long. Touring caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcome, and glamping options such as barrel pods are also available for your stay.

The famous Donkey Sanctuary is nearby, with the Field Trail offering a route across the meadows directly to it. The whole area is idyllic as the park is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On a blue sky day in particular, Oakdown is just beautiful.

3. Webbers Park

Not far from Exeter, Webbers Park is set in 20 acres and boasts breathtaking views of the countryside around Dartmoor and the River Exe.

Three thousand acres of unspoilt, open heathland dot the surrounding landscape at Woodbury Common, which makes for a perfect spot for walkers. If you prefer beaches, Exmouth beach has two miles of golden sands with rock pools ready to explore. Golf, walking, fishing, sailing, cycling and windsurfing is all available locally.

Everyone loves Webbers Park, and we particularly liked this recent review on Trip Advisor:

What a cracking find this site is. We’re not long back from a 4 night camping stay at Webbers.
One of the cleanest sites we’ve ever stayed at. The whole site is very clean and well presented. When we drove up to our pitch I was shocked at the size of it, in a good way! It was massive!! Our tent is pretty much 7×4 and once up looked tiny. Nice to have the extra space. Onsite shop has all that you need, and on the off chance it doesn’t, it’s not far to walk/drive to a Londis. Just round the corner from a couple of pubs. Our girls loved the play area making friends and spent plenty of time checking out the Guinea Pigs and Donkeys.

So, Webbers is perfect for families and those who love space to breathe.  They are ready and waiting to welcome you to their Devon home!

4. Hidden Valley Park

Hidden Valley Park is situated, as the name suggests (!) in a picturesque wooded valley near the pristine beaches of North Devon. A family friendly park that is open all year, there are 35 acres on site to explore and plenty of space for touring and camping pitches. The facilities are clean and modern, with amenity blocks across the site which house thermostatically controlled showers.

The golden sandy beach at Woolacombe and The Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, both of which are Blue Flag and Quality Coast Award winners lie just 4 miles away. The park itself boasts spacious pitches, plenty of space to explore (including three childrens’ play areas), a gorgeous gurgling stream that runs through the site, and plenty of secluded woodland trails in the surrounding area.

Park owner Richard Legg is an expert on the South West coast path, and it’s worth having a word with the whole team about local walking spots and the quieter beaches. The photo above was taken by Richard on one of his walking expeditions, so you’ll be in safe hands with his local knowledge and advice!

Hidden Valley is well-situated for public transport, the site has its own bus stop which is served by two different bus routes. It is also well-placed for cycling, the Tarka trail cycle route starts at nearby Braunton and follows the route of the old railway line through some of the county’s most stunning scenery.

5. Ross Park Caravan Park

Magnificent floral displays await at Ross Park, where walks in their conservation areas are encouraged so that you can enjoy the spectacular views of Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. There’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on site and families are welcome. Again, Ross Park is a multi award winning park, showing the standard is high and the quality exceptional.

Facilities include a centrally-heated amenities block with disabled facilities, a bar and restaurant, dog exercising areas, tropical conservatory, conservation areas, outdoor and undercover play areas, snooker room, tourist information, shop, launderette, and dishwashing room with freezer.

Pitches are hardstanding with 16 amp electric hook-up and water hook-up and many have waste-water hook-up as well. There are fewer camping pitches here, just 8, but tents are very much welcome!

6. Woodovis Park

Woodovis is a small holiday park situated on the Devon/Cornwall border which means you can explore both counties when you stay here, it’s a gem of the South West! They are ideally located for great camping, glamping and caravan holidays near the town of Tavistock.

It is a tranquil haven with excellent facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, spa pool and infrared therapy sauna. 50 touring pitches are accompanied by 50 camping pitches, so there is something for everyone.

7. Parkland Caravan and Camping Site

One of the newest members of the Best of British Holidays Parks Group, Parkland is an adult only site in the heart of South Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Open all year round, you can visit Parkland at the height of summer, or the bracing months of winter for brisk beach walks.

One of our smallest sites, the facilities on offer pack a punch and the standard is high, highlighted by the AA’s 5 gold pennant rating.  Seasonal pitches are available over three acres of level, mature landscaped grounds, along with glamping and self catering options. Two heated amenity buildings service the site all with free constant hot water. Fully tiled ‘hotel style’ washrooms, each with toilet, washbasin and large shower or bath.

The site is surrounded by natural Devon hedgerows, abundant with wildlife, with views towards Salcombe, and the rolling countryside towards Dartmoor. Enjoy the hedgerow flowers of primrose and stitchwort, and our seasonal flower beds, and of course stunning butterflies amongst the buddleia. Watch out for the visiting hedgehogs, the local pheasant and if you’re lucky, the barn owl.

Parkland is perfectly placed for a ramble the South West Coast Path, relax on glorious sandy beaches and secluded coves, visit historic towns or quaint villages and of course enjoy the many tourist attractions and activities. Please note that this is the only park in the Best of British group that does not permit dogs on site.
