What To Do And See In Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire is bordered by a variety of other counties, including Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire. It is a county that provides plenty of opportunities to explore. There may not be a beach nearby, but the tourism opportunities are plentiful. Here are a few things we like to do when we visit Swiss Farm and Lincoln Farm Park…

1. The Cotswolds

Bibury-628b6b5ab1798

You will be in reach of a variety of Cotswold villages. The region runs along a range of rolling hills that rise from the meadows of the upper Thames to the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale, so there is a vast expanse to explore. The landscape of stone built villages, towns and stately homes and gardens. You’ll find the prettiest villages in Oxfordshire and neighbouring Gloucestershire.

2. Visit Oxford

Oxford-628b6d345a5c0

Where do we start when suggesting you visit Oxford?  We think the city’s most obvious landmark is the University. For over 800 years, it’s been home to royalty and scholars and the ancient University buildings and dotted around the city. This is the Bodleian Library, the main research library of the University of Oxford, and it is one of the oldest libraries in Europe. Named after its founder, Thomas Bodley, there are over 13 million printed items and this is the second largest library in Britain after the British Library.

3. Royal Regatta, Henley on Thames

Henley On Thames

We mentioned that Swiss Farm was just a walk away from Henley on Thames, and this is the sight that will await you. At Royal Regatta times (June/July), the River Thames will be teeming with boats of various sizes and styles.  The Royal Regatta is the most prestigious in the world and is a highlight of the summer rowing calendar and social season in the country.  Visited by more than 300,000 people each year, there are over 300 races across six days of elite sporting competition.

There are just a few ideas of what you can do while staying in Oxfordshire. We hope you enjoy your trip!  Swiss Farm Touring and Camping and Lincoln Farm Park are ready and waiting to welcome you!
